Sponsor the LCR-Austin/LCR-Texas Pride Booth
Pride Festival: Saturday, September 20th – 11am to 6pm
Pride Parade: Saturday, September 20th – 8pm
Why Pride is Important to LCR-Austin/LCR-Texas
- As a grassroots organization, Log Cabin Republicans of Texas depends on community outreach in order to attract new members and to educate the community regarding the work we do for LGBT Texans.
- Austin Pride attracts thousands of Central Texans. It is the largest community outreach event that LCR-TX and LCR-Austin participate in every year.
- Last year’s pride helped LCR-Austin attract dozens of new members, including three new board members. It also introduced us to individuals in neighboring cities who wish to start local LCR chapters. We want this year’s to be even bigger and better!
What We Will Do for 2014 Pride
- This year, in keeping with Austin Pride’s Wizard of Oz inspired theme of “The Wonderful Land of Oz-tin,” LCR-TX and LCR-Austin will host an Oz-themed booth. We hope the fun theme and atmosphere of the booth will attract more visitors.
- At the booth, visitors will find*…
o “The Yellow Brick Road to Equality,” an Oz-themed photo booth complete with an Emerald City backdrop, Oz-inspired props, and photo ops with drag performers dressed as Dorothy, Glinda, and the Wicked Witch of the West.
o A raffle of Oz souvenirs, including a Blu-Ray of The Wizard of Oz and a gift certificate to Austin’s iFly.
o A kids area featuring Oz related games and activities.
o A Log Cabin info table featuring handouts, brochures, and other information about Log Cabin Republicans of Texas and Log Cabin Republicans of Austin.
o Free give-away items for kids and adults.

“Road to Equality” Photo Booth
Visitors can grab Oz-related props and pose with Dorothy, Glinda, or the Wicked Witch at our tent’s focal point, the “Road to Equality” photo booth, pictured above. All photos will then be posted on our website and Facebook page. Each visitor to the photo booth will receive a small card reminding them to visit our websites to find their pictures.
Drag performers dressed as Dorothy, Glinda, and the Wicked Witch of the West will be at the photo booth throughout the day.
Children’s Area
LCR-Austin/LCR-Texas’s pride booth will also feature an entire area devoted to kids. The area will include interactive games, a coloring station, and giveaway items.
Raffle Items
Any visitor to the booth who signs up for the LCR-Texas e-mail list will automatically be entered into a raffle for Oz-themed items, including a grand prize gift certificate for two to iFly, Austin’s Indoor Skydiving.
LCR Information Area
Our booth will feature displays and information on the positive impact of the Republican Party.
Our booth will also feature a display and information on the important role the LGBT community has within the Republican Party. This display will also include information regarding LCR-Texas’s involvement in the recent Texas GOP convention as well as quotes from news stories regarding LCR-Texas.
