Safe Schools Improvement Act

H.R. 2262, S. 3739

Bullying of LGBT and perceived LGBT youth is a huge issue in today’s schools, that not only detracts from our children’s ability to learn, but that results in serious psychological harm, if not physical injury or death to our youth. Current federal law has no specific provisions focusing on preventing bullying and harassment in schools, and nothing at all to alleviate the challenges of LGBT youth in public schools; this act would amend the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (part of the No Child Left Behind Act) to deal with the aforementioned issues.

The Log Cabin Republicans are proud to stand among the many education, health, law enforcement and youth development organizations who support such federal legislation to combat bullying and harassment, especially as related to LGBT youth.
